Jeremy DeWeerdt serves as the Lead Pastor of Rockford First, a church that is focused on three simple priorities: Loving God, People, and Life! Jeremy, along with his wife, Jen, accepted the Lead Pastor position in April of 2007, after having been on staff at Rockford First for more than 16 years in the capacity of Student Ministries Pastor and Director of the post-high school ministry, Rockford Master's Commission.
Rockford First is a growing congregation with a priority of sharing Christ's love to its community. Through its ministries, which include a PK3-12th grade Christian school of 700 students, six retirement center facilities, and dozens of ministries, God is changing lives.
Jeremy founded the Rockford Master's Commission in 1993. Now named Focus One, this ministry challenges young adults to give one year of spiritual focus on God before entering higher education and career training. Jeremy also served on the pastoral team and eventually directed Cross Current Student Ministries (now called The Venue); a ministry that reached more than 1,000 middle school, high school, and college-aged students each week.
Jeremy also founded Earthbeat, Inc. in 1993, a non-profit organization that mobilizes youth and young adults to give back to their communities through volunteerism, especially related to environmental service projects. Earthbeat works with government organizations, park districts, youth initiative groups, and corporations to encourage community involvement.
Jeremy is an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God since 1993. Jeremy and Jen have been married for 15 years and have two sons, Caden and Connor.
